We’re Stampeding for 4-H Camp!
For every $25 you donate to the Cascade Lake 4-H Camp “Campaign 2010″ between now and June 30, your name will be entered into a drawing for a chance to win exclusive front row tickets to the Snake River Stampede in July. These tickets will give you an up-close view of the rodeo action and concessions will be served to you in your seat (package valued at $400).

About Campaign 2010
The Cascade Lake 4-H Camp Board recently launched a fundraising campaign called “Campaign 2010.” Our goal is to fund current camp improvements and to build a reserve to finish the projects with incomplete bids by the end of the year 2010. We hope to raise over $200,000 in three years through a combination of grants, corporate support, and individual contributions.
Camp Work Weekend Postponed April 28, 2008

As you can see from the photos posted below that were taken last weekend, the camp is still under a lot of snow! As a result, the camp work weekend originally scheduled for the first weekend in May has been postponed to May 17. If you are able to attend, please send us an email or call 208-585-6669. Reservations are necessary to ensure a cabin and meals. We hope you can make it. Come join the fun!

Winter Wonderland February 27, 2008
Most people don’t ever get an opportunity to see the Cascade Lake 4-H Camp in the middle of winter. But Camp Board President Kathy Lauer and a few friends recently snowshoed into the camp to check out the impact of this winter’s plentiful snowfall.
Although the camp is barely recognizable, the scenery is quite beautiful and we thought we’d share some of the photos with you (see slideshow below). So enjoy these rare views of camp - and pray that the snow melts in time for the Spring Work Day in May!
Bob Waitley - A Camp Legend February 23, 2008
How do you say “thanks for all you have done” to someone who has been working to maintain the Cascade Lake 4-H Camp since before opening day? It’s a difficult situation to tackle, but here is an attempt.
It would be impossible to calculate the number of hours Bob Waitley has devoted to building and maintaining the camp facility over the last 43 years. As a member of the Camp Board, he has helped guide and direct the camp’s mission of providing a safe and comfortable facility for youth and families to enjoy educational experiences in a natural environment. Because of Bob’s support, many thousands of youth and adults have experienced the splendor of camping on the shores of Cascade Lake.
After 43 years of volunteering for the Cascade Lake 4-H Camp, Bob has decided to step down from his position as a Camp Board Director. He isn’t deserting us completely - he promises to still keep helping as much as his over 80 years of age will allow (sorry about telling your age, Bob). But knowing Bob it will still be a lot.
At our January Board meeting, Bob expressed his opinion that we needed to offer the opportunity of serving the camp to someone younger. We may find someone younger, but it will be difficult to fill his shoes for the dedication and time given to our Camp.
I’m sure Bob will not like much being made about his service to the camp, but the Camp Board thinks it is important to show our appreciation for a job well done. If you’ve ever been to camp and enjoyed your stay, be sure to tell Bob “thanks” when you see him. Below are a few pictures of Bob. We’d love to hear any stories about Bob you would like to share with us to post here on the website.

Campaign 2010 Update January 22, 2008

Campaign 2010 is underway and we’re making good progress. We’ve raised $4542 from individuals and received a $5000 grant from the John and Orah Brandt Foundation. That’s $9542 in just two months!
But we still have a long way to go towards our goal of $200,000 by 2010. If you haven’t donated yet, please click this link to make a donation using a credit card or PayPal account. We appreciate any contribution you can make, whether it is $5 or $500 or volunteer time.
Anyone who makes a donation to Campaign 2010 will be listed on the camp website as a “Friend of Cascade Lake 4-H Camp.”
